There are a few things that I feel all of us can never have enough of laying around in the shop, one of them being bits. There is nothing worse then being in the middle of a project and having your bit kick the bucket. Because of this, I try to stay up to date on the newest, baddest, bits on the market and right now I am loving these Makita Power Bits .

A lot can be said about a long-lasting, durable, bit. The Makita Power Bits are engineered to last up to 60 times longer than standard insert bits. Because of this, not only do you not need as many laying around your shop, but you don't have to worry about constantly replacing your bit when you're in the middle of a big project. One of the reasons why these Makita Power Bits last so long is because of the Xtreme Torsion Technology. Xtreme Torsion Technology allows the torsion section of the bit to flex under the load, taking pressure off the bit tip for increased durability in high torque applications. The Makita Power Bits have what is called a "precision fit-tip" that assists in preventing cam-out and stripping. Another great thing about the Makita Power Bits is that they are magnetic which allows you to change them quickly and efficiently. In a nutshell, the Makita Power bits are designed for high-impact drivers and are a great choice for tough wood-working projects.
Obviously bits aren't going to break your bank, and for a 2-pack, I feel these are extremely reasonably priced at $3.97 per pack. As I said above, these are high quality, so to get 2 for under $4 is a steal.
Most of us will say "bits are bits" but in that you have to look at the upside on bits like these. They're made to last a little longer and they put the time and efffort into the research and development of a better bit. Are they going to last forever, probably not. But in my experience using "high end" bits, especially impact bits, you get much more life out of the ones that cost a bit more. I also dig the fact these are available in square and phillips head, which are my most used bits in the shop. All in all a good product and for the price, you cant not try them out!
