Last quarter, I reviewed several different types of work lights including a headlamp, and magnetic light, but did not get to take a look at any standard type work lights. You know, the good old fashioned ones that light up the entire room and typically are big and clunky and you have to navigate your way around them. Well Milwaukee has taken those big clunky lights and brought them into this upcoming new and improved tool world with a sleek and portable design that you will want to have in your arsenal with the M12 Rocket LED Stand Work Light
The Milwaukee M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless 1400 Lumen Rocket LED Stand Work Light has more options then I thought were possible to include in a standard work light. To start off, the Milwaukee Stand Work Light gives off 1400 Lumens of TRUEVIEW High Definition Output. This thing is sure to light up any work space you may be using it in without question and gives off a lot of light for being so portable and lightweight. It actually leaves a 45% smaller footprint then the M18 Rocket tower lights which is pretty significant. Another great thing about the Milwaukee Stand Work Light is that it is dual power, meaning it can be powered by the M12 Battery (review to come), or an extension cord. If using the battery, you can get up to 10 hours off of one charge with this light which is impressive. Another great thing about the Milwaukee Stand Work Light is that it is compact and lightweight. The compact build collapses to 2’7” and extends to 5’8”. This makes it ideal for throwing in the back of your truck to take to the job site if necessary.
Now, as I said above the Milwaukee Stand Work Light is dual power so lets take a closer look at the battery pack that literally lets there be light (in this case). The Milwaukee M12 12-Volt Lithium-Ion Compact Battery Pack 2.0ah and charger starter kit is a must have if you’re looking to use the work light in the most portable and convenient way possible. The Milwaukee M12 Battery Pack can also be added to any M12 bare tool giving you the option to create your own tool kit which is awesome for gift giving. The M12 Red Lithium battery packs deliver long life and run time with fade free power. Like I said, this thing is good for up to 10 hours with the Milwaukee stand light so you really could use it for the entire work day without having to throw it on the charger. The Milwaukee M12 Battery Pack also has a fuel gage which displays the status of the battery on the tool so you know when you’re running low. Lastly, the M12 charger offers recharge status light indicators and an easy to load design making it efficient to use. This really is a great battery pack to have, and is (I think) a necessity if you’re using anything on the M12 line.
For a long time job site lighting was a huge pain if you didn't have a dedicated power source. Halogen dominated the market for years, but as we know, They're hot and huge pain to store. They can also be very expensive. So with the stand light coming in at $149 and the M12 compact 2.0 ah battery pack priced at $69, I believe it's priced well. A compact powerful light and battery can go just about anywhere, and no more blazing hot Halogen bulbs that need replaced either
Lighting is hugely important to any work place, whether it's on a job site or even in a work shop. With the improvements in technology as it comes to LED lighting, I truly believe Milwaukee is leading the way. I love how this light can be corded or cordless, and how compact it is. Toss it in the truck and you know if you need more lights on a site you have them, and if you don't, it doesn't take up a ton of space. The M12 battery line is also top notch and very powerful. For me this is a no brainer for anyone looking for stand lighting.
