In late July of 2018, myself and my podcast partner, Brad Rodriguez, took a trip out to the desert to hang out with Mike Montgomery and Ben Uyeda at their summer home in Joshua Tree California. While there we brainstormed a ton of awesome projects and Mike, from Modern Builds, came up with an awesome idea for a River Table. He had seen my River Table (Check it out here!), and wanted some help with the process, and I was PUMPED to lend a hand. He purchased some resin and some amazing olive wood cookies, and we knew it would need a special jig to get it flat. So I showed mike a super simple 10 minute router flattening jig to make out lives a ton simpler!
You can easily build one for yourself with some cheap materials and a few simple tools. I recommend using a welder, because its fast and easy. But if you don't have one, you can use plywood or hard wood. This project becomes highly versatile when you need to flatten wide boards, and is awesome to have in any shop!
