Developing your Brand could possibly be the most important part of this entire process.

Scratch that. It is the most important part. If you don’t understand the importance of long term branding for the sake of your lively hood, you have not taken anything I have said seriously.

This is not a get rich quick concept. Shit, this isn’t even any sort of get rich concept. The only thing going on here is the pursuit of a life you chose to live, and not one you had to because of social norms. If you are in this for the money, turn around and go home. Because you will not win.

Branding, to me, is about people. Yes, people.

Your brand needs to be who and what you are. You need to embody every single aspect of what you portray via your brand. You have to live, speak, breathe, eat, and sleep your brand. Every fiber of your being should be tingling with excitement about this part. You are finally taking the leap to live a life on your own terms.

WHICH IS AWESOME!

So when you get into your brand conceptualization, think of it as a time when you get to put what you’re most passionate about out there. But not for you, for the betterment of the people who believe in you. Now, I know this can sound a bit confusing. But trust me, no great brand ever succeeded because they were great at making themselves look good. Its all about making the people who like that brand feel something.

This is why your brand has to be you, and 100% what you are about. A product can die, and they come and go. But a great brand lasts forever.

There is a reason my brand is my Name. Because it is all I know, and all I have. I have been working on this brand for 28 years. This brand is me. This brand is my opportunity to bring people together and try to provide something that can help make them better. Whether its a coffee table that makes their home feel complete. Or a quote that keeps them motivated on a Monday after a long weekend. Maybe its a tool review that saves them a few bucks or some inspiration to get off their ass and go build something. Who knows.

But what I do know is myself. This is because i self reflect constantly, and i firmly believe that I can provide benefit to people and bring them together.

So ask yourself. What do you want your brand to be?
